Tapovan sits slightly above and away from the main Laxman Jhula/Ram Jhula crowds, which is exactly why we're based here — but it's not remote. Everything below is within a short walk or a 10–15 minute drive.
1. Walk the waterfall stream trail
The stream that runs past the property continues up into the forest — an easy, shaded walk that most guests do before breakfast.
2. Neer Garh Waterfall
A short drive and a 20-minute walk gets you to a proper multi-tier waterfall with a natural pool. Go early to avoid the midday crowd.
3. Drop in on a yoga class
Tapovan has some of Rishikesh's most established yoga schools within walking distance, many offering single-class drop-ins if you're not on a full retreat.
4. Ram Jhula and the evening Ganga Aarti
A short drive down the hill. The evening aarti (fire ceremony) on the ghats is worth timing your day around at least once.
5. Café-hop along the main road
Tapovan has a genuinely good cluster of cafes — wood-fired pizza, proper filter coffee, and Israeli and Tibetan food alongside Indian thalis.
6. Kunjapuri Temple sunrise
About 45 minutes by car, but the pre-dawn drive rewards you with a 360° Himalayan view at sunrise. Worth one early morning.
7. Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia)
The abandoned ashram where the Beatles wrote much of the White Album, now covered in graffiti art. Genuinely interesting even if you're not a fan.
8. Do nothing, by the stream
Not every day in Rishikesh needs an itinerary. Several guests tell us their best afternoon was just sitting by the water with a book.
